Hon. Ken Obura is the Chief Administrative Secretary; Ministry of East Africa Community and Regional Development. He is a lawyer and a scientist with solid technical and practical knowledge balanced with an emphasis on positively impacting the society. Hon. Obura is self-motivated, creative, well organized with a keen eye for details. Preceding his appointment as the Chief Administrative Secretary in the ministry, Hon. Obura served as a member of parliament in the National Assembly representing Kisumu Central Constituency. While in Parliament, he served in various key parliamentary committees; Committee on Appointments, Public Accounts Committee, Committee on Selection, Powers and Privileges and the Defense and Foreign Relations Committee. In the course of his duty as a member of parliament, Hon. Obura acquired extensive knowledge and wide experience in legislative, political, regional integration and governance affairs. These interactions, will be vital and significant in steering and guiding the Ministry to greater heights.
He is a person of demonstrated leadership strengths and proven ability to manage and successfully accomplish multiple responsibilities. He has two bachelor’s degrees; LL. B and BSC, both from the University of Nairobi. Further, he has undertaken advocates training program at the Kenya School of Law.
Hon. Obura is a versatile and adaptable individual. He is able to establish a strong relationship with young people and multi-professional peers and colleagues. He is a strong believer in teamwork, efficiency, effectiveness, competence and proficiency. Above all, he’s full of compassion to the less fortunate in the society. He believes strongly in giving back to the society.
